Volkswagen launches Polo facelift in India at Rs. 4.99 lakh

German carmaker, Volkswagen has launched the Polo facelift in India at prices starting from Rs. 4.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

The facelifted Polo has been given some changes to its exterior. At the front there is a new grille with a chrome strip running along the base, redesigned headlamps and a restyled front bumper with a larger air dam and integrated fog lamps and cornering lights. At the rear is a pair of revised tail lamps, a new bumper with a reflector at each end and different number plate housing. The Highline variant rides on redesigned 15-inch alloy wheels, while lower variants get steel wheels with covers.

On the inside, the Polo gets a new multi-function steering wheel with piano black detailing, a centre console with matte silver inserts and new fabric for the seats. On the safety front the Polo is equipped with airbags for the driver and front passenger and ABS on all except the base variant.

The petrol version of the Polo facelift retains the 1.2-litre, 74 bhp, 3-cylinder, MPI engine from the old car. The diesel version gets a new 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder diesel unit that produces 89 bhp and 230 Nm of torque. Both versions are equipped with a 5-speed manual gearbox.

The Polo GT TSI comes with a 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine that puts out 104 bhp, 175 Nm of torque and is mated to a 7-speed DSG transmission. The Polo GT TDI features a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder diesel unit producing 104 bhp and 250 Nm of torque. These two variants, along with the Cross Polo are expected by early September.
