Hyundai has released the first teaser video of the upcoming next-gen Verna sedan. The refreshed mid-size sedan is expected to be launched in August 2017 and pre-bookings are set to open soon.
The styling of the next-gen Verna is based on Hyundai's Fluidic 2.0 philosophy. Moreover, it borrows a lot of design cues from the more premium Elantra. It has a familiar front fascia with a large trapezoidal chrome-lined grille which is flanked by projector lamps with signature LED DRLs. The new Verna carries over the clean, stylish sweptback profile of its predecessor. The distinct LED tail lamp treatment really stands out.
Now, Hyundai has already launched the new Verna in the Chinese market. If we compare its specifications with the current-gen, it is expected to offer more cabin space thanks to a 10-mm increase in wheelbase. The overall length of the car has grown by 15 mm and the extra 29 mm width should improve the shoulder room.
Hyundai is expected to retain the current line of engines for the new Verna - 1.4-litre petrol, 1.6-litre petrol and 1.4-litre diesel and 1.6-litre diesel. These units could be on offer with a choice of three transmissions - 5-speed and 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic.
