Mahindra announces XUV500 recall for 3 parts

In what can be seen as a step in the right direction, Mahindra announces that it would carry out replacement of certain parts of the XUV500. This is Mahindra’s first public recall.

The company will be replacing the following parts in a select batch of XUV500s manufactured during 2011 & 2012: 

• Power-steering fluid hose
• Front power window units (including window motors)
• Left wiper blade cover. A service advisor told BHPian Abhinavinc that the older design could cause windscreen scratches

You can check if your XUV500 is part of the service recall at this link. The 3 parts would be replaced free of cost for XUV500 owners who would be individually contacted by the company.

Team-BHP welcomes recalls as it shows the manufacturer’s commitment to a product after it has been sold. Several XUV500 owners on Team-BHP have also complained about faulty brake pads that lead to a spongy brake pedal & excessive brake noise. We urge Mahindra to issue a recall on the defective brake pads as well.
