KTM 390 Adventure spotted testing in Europe

After years of speculations about KTM's potential entry into the small-displacement adventure bike segment, the first batch of spy shots of the 390 Adventure has surfaced on the Internet. The bike has reportedly been spotted testing outside KTM's test facility in southern Europe. It will be the entry-level model in KTM's Adventure bike series, and is expected to be unveiled at the 2017 EICMA show in Milan, with the global launch in early 2018.

The 390 Adventure is expected to be based on the same platform that underpins the RC390 and the Duke 390. KTM is also likely to use the Duke 390's 373cc, single-cylinder, liquid cooled engine in the new Adventure bike. However, the engine will be tuned differently to develop more torque lower down the rev range, in order for the bike to tackle off-road obstacles.

The spy shots reveal that the 390 Adventure will likely feature a design that is largely inspired from the Enduro R. It is expected to get long travel suspension and larger wheels. The images show that the bike's swing arm is a lot beefier than the one found on the Duke 390.

If the KTM 390 Adventure does come to India, it can provide a tough competition to the Royal Enfield Himalayan, which is currently the only bike in this segment, and the upcoming BMW G310 GS, which was globally revealed at this year's EICMA show and is expected to be launched here next year.
