A single prototype model of the Isuzu MU-X SUV has been imported into India, probably for testing. This import comes after media reports suggested that Isuzu will be launching the MU-X in India by the end of 2016. The new SUV will reportedly replace the MU-7, which is currently on sale in the country

The Isuzu MU-X borrows its platform from the Chevrolet Trailblazer. Various design cues too have been inspired from the Chevy SUV, including the side profile. The MU-X gets projector headlamps, a muscular bumper, a twin-slat chrome grille, and an upright nose. The interiors too are similar to those offered on the Trailblazer. The multi-function steering wheel now gets an Isuzu logo, while features on offer include automatic climate control, cruise control, and an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

The international-spec Isuzu MU-X is powered by a 3.0-litre diesel engine, which is good for 174 BHP and 380 Nm of torque. However, the Indian spec MU-X will likely come with the same engine that powers the existing MU-7 SUV, which also is essentially a 3.0-litre unit, but develops slightly lower output figures of 161 BHP and 360 Nm.
