Hyundai starts over-the-counter sales of spares

Thanks to BHPian audioholic for bringing this to our notice.

According to an advertisement appearing in a daily newspaper, Hyundai Motor India Ltd., has started over-the-counter (OTC) sales of genuine spare parts. The company has opened its first store at Whitefield, Bangalore, called Advaith MOBIS. The operation is jointly run by Advaith Hyundai, Bangalore and MOBIS, official distributors of Hyundai genuine parts.

The start of OTC sales will be welcomed by Hyundai customers who might find it inconvenient to visit Hyundai Authorised Service Centres. This initiative will give them the freedom to get their cars attended to at independent workshops, thus enabling them to save time and considerable amounts on labour chargers.

While some manufacturers like Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors and Mahindra do sell spares through the OTC route, the vast majority has not warmed up to the idea. However, with Hyundai stepping up, it may not be long before others seriously consider OTC sales of genuine parts.
