Honda CBR250RR makes its world premiere in Indonesia

Honda has unveiled its new quarter-litre sports bike, named the Honda CBR250RR, in Indonesia. The motorcycle has been priced from 63 million Indonesian Rupiah, which equates to Rs. 3.2 lakh (approximately).

The CBR250RR is based on the Light Weight Super Sports Concept that was showcased by Honda at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show. Aesthetically, the production-spec bike is a watered down version of its concept. It gets sharper and aggressive body lines, a tall windscreen, and split seats. The matte black finish of the concept has also been carried over to the production bike. Being a CBR, the new bike gets design characteristics like dual-LED headlights with DRLs, and a nose-down tail-lamp. The bike also gets a dual exhaust and an all-digital instrument cluster.

Powering the new Honda CBR250RR will be a 250cc, 8-valve, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin DOHC engine. Honda hasn't revealed the power output of this engine yet, but has confirmed that the bike would get Throttle-by-Wire (TbW) system. The CBR250RR is thus expected to come with 3 riding modes, through which the rider can tailor the bike's characteristics to suit his requirements.

Similar to the setup found on the Light Weight Super Sports Concept, the CBR250RR also gets an up-side down fork suspension at the front and a pro-link suspension with 5-step pre-load at the rear. The braking setup consists of a 310 mm disc at the front and a 240 mm disc at the rear. Dual-channel ABS is likely to be available as an option.

The CBR250RR will compete against the Yamaha YZF-R25 and Kawasaki Ninja 250 in international markets. There are no indications yet about the India launch of the bike.
