Hero Splendor iSmart details leaked

Back in October 2013, India’s largest motorcycle manufacturer, Hero MotoCorp Ltd. unveiled a range of 15 new bikes, which included a new incarnation of its economy offering, the Splendor. While the company has not released any official statement, it appears that it is very close to introducing the bike into the market.

Motoring website, Motorbeam has managed to obtain details about the bike’s launch date and price. The website claims that the bike is scheduled to be launched on January 29, 2014 and will be priced at Rs. 57,200 (on-road, Navi Mumbai), which is Rs. 2,000 more than the Splendor Pro. The company has already dispatched bikes to its dealerships.

Christened Splendor iSmart, the bike has been equipped with i3S technology (Idle Stop-Start System), which automatically shuts the engine while idling and turns it on when the rider twists the throttle. This system is said to enhance the fuel efficiency of the bike.

Other features include a side-stand warning indicator, new body graphics, black alloy wheels and a new instrument cluster.

The Splendor iSmart will use a 97.5 cc, single-cylinder, 4-stroke engine, which produces 7.8 PS and 8.04 Nm of Torque. This is the same unit that has been seen in many of the company’s offerings over the years.
