One of the Oldest car rallies of Delhi is going to be held on Sunday 28th Feb 2010. A write up of the rally i found on the net which was originally posted Mr. S.B. Jatti.

The 44th Statesman Vintage & Classic Car Rally to flag-off on February 28

Delhi Lieutenant-Governor Tejendra Khanna will flag-off the 44th Statesman Vintage & Classic Car Rally on Sunday, February 28th, 2010 at the majestic building of Statesman House in New Delhi. A record 130 entries have been received for this year,s rally which is truly India,s biggest and most popular vintage sporting events. These rare beauties will travel between Delhi and Greater Noida before returning to the picturesque Rail Museum for prize distribution.

The sturdy Fords, little Austins, Bentleys, Lagondas, Minnervas, majestic Rolls Royce, stylish Chevrolets, Buicks & Jaguars, a pleasing 1914 John Morris, the erstwhile Nizam of Hyderabad,s fire engine are some of the timeless machines participating in this year’s rally, drawing passionate heritage motorists from across India.

"This Statesman Vintage Rally is seen as the Mecca of all vintage rallies in the Indian sub-continent and this year the legendary event has grown even bigger with the maximum number of vintage, classic and post war car entries ever," said Rahul Mittra, CEO Brandsmith, leading brand promotions Company and the exclusive promotions & event partner of this coveted annual event since 2004.

Lunch & refreshments for participants & top socialites, media & corporate honchos

Flag-Off from YMCA at 2 PM after lunch

Cars reach National Rail Museum at 3.30 PM

Prize Distribution by Lt. Governor’s wife at Rail Museum at 5 PM

Event Ends 6.30 PM

*Pre-judging of these timeless machines by an expert panel of vintage car judges would take place on 26th & 27th February at Modern School, Barakhamba Road, New Delhi

Statesman Vintage & Classic Rally - The scrutiny of cars was done at the Modern School, New Delhi on two days, Friday and Saturday, I could not go on Friday and I went very late on Saturday and I could get to see only a few cars and could take photographs of the same. I am uploading some of the photographs.

Indrojit...I hope you will attaned and take good pics of all teh cars in this event and post the same.

Do try to include all the cars listed asbeing entered in this efvent for teh first time too.

Got a tip off from SS-Traveller regarding the event. Went for a quick visit to rail museum where the final event was to take place. Had to come back early due to some personal commitment.

was pleasantly surprised by the cars crossing the DND toll bridge, but was sad to see over 6 cars which broke down and were being repaired on the roadside, including the boat tail rolls royce which was broken down right after the toll gate.

I am attatching a pic that i took of a drawer like fitting which was on the side of RM"s Boat tailed Rolls that we saw in the statesman Vintage car rally today.

Rolls Experts pls comment on the originality of the said fitting

That RR Skiff looks so neat, is that from Ranjit Mallik. What is its background.

Nice to see ADY 1386 my old Lincoln at this event. That car was a blast to drive, would leave rubber on the road when floored.

That set of drawers on the RR look too crude to have been done by any professional coachbuilder, may be they are period add ons done by one of its earlier owners.
