re: Review: 1st-gen Toyota Fortuner

Hi Friends,

Planning for my second vehicle which has to be a SUV now. I am driving Vento TDI for last three years(ODO 65k). Do you guys recommend the facelifted Fortuner arriving in 2014 or, a second hand 2010 model whih I can buy? Second hand 2010 and 2011 models driven around 50k are available at a price of 17.5 approximately now.

What should be my choice based on the long term ownership reviews? 2014 model or, a good bargain with a two/three year old firtuner?

Thanks,
Nikesh

Question: Pardon me - I am lame on this. Is there a facelift expected in 2014? as a trend, the facelift first comes to Indonesia/Thailand and then comes to india.

I would suggest to go in for a brand new fortuner. if you plan to keep it only for 2-3 years, go 2nd hand but if you plan to keep it for 3+ years, it must be new anyday

Where are you finding reliable pre owned fortuners. I would recommend going for pre owned but 17.5 for a 2010 or a 2011 model seems to be steep. The vehicle was not that expensive then.

lt's approx 1% in ex-showroom price for fortuner since Jan14. I believe you are calculating differently

We booked at 23.41 and now its 23.59 ex-showroom pune. You can check Toyota Bharat website for exact pricing.

Took ours during new year at old price

I don't know why the pune price should be 40k lower than Bangalore when the car is manufactured right here. But yeah, the price doesn't look like its adjusted for the 6%.

re: Review: 1st-gen Toyota Fortuner

Its been two years since the last update on Fortuner. Is there any latest news or possibility of facelift or any changes in near future.

2. Road tax is 13% on ex showroom price which comes out to be rs. 304342.00/-.
Whereas this is being charged to me as this ex showroom + lbt *13% = 318603.00/- plus some charges amounting to rs. 321554.00. The difference is straight out coming to approximate 17000.00/-

3. Then there is handling charges amounting to 6225.00/-
What is the explanation behind this overcharge? I also feel that they always somehow show increased on road price in their basic quotation sheets.

re: Review: 1st-gen Toyota Fortuner

Just needed an update whether or not is it a good time buy the Fortuner ?? Planning to get one soon especially keeping the price cuts in consideration. Was only speculating the launch of a facelift anytime soon since its been quite a while since an update has been brought in. Any news on the same ? & should I go ahead with the booking ?

Waiting even for the 4x2 MT is 2 months in my city.

I am getting to answer this late but nevertheless. Prices as of December 13 in MH. Seems like the charges are Legit. Its only on poking they give the actual calculations. Which is fair enough.

Quote:
  • RTO TAX IS APPLICABLE ON EX SHOWROOM + LBT Amt
  • Ex showroom 2341096+ LBT 109701=2450797*13%= RTO 318603 difference Amount 2950 is for RTO IMV, Smart card Charge & Vehicle passing charge
  • LBT is applicable on EX SHOWROOM + standard Insurance Charge + handling Charge 4% +12.5 % VAT
  • Ex showroom 2341096+ Insurance 90486+ Handling charge 6225=2437807*4%=97512+12.5% =109701 LBT
Time flies so fast seems like yesterday. Oh, BTW completed 1 service and 3oooKMs on the Toyota Fortuner. Every-time we drive it makes me smile at us to making a damn good decision so far so good. No fuss and if's and but's. Fill it shut it forget it kind of approach. KMPL is consistent between 12-13 and i dont baby foot it either.

This is the pencil sketch from mobile collection attached for viewing pleasure. This happens to be my favorite too.

For those sitting on the fence.. jump in

The latest model of the Fortuner has got a revised interior scheme.
The plastics that were grey in colour have been changed to black?
Can anybody confirm on this?

Black interior is good news. Any other changes that you're aware of?

Does it look like this on the insides now?

Yes it looks pretty much the same except that the colour of the leather is still beige just the colour of the plastics has been changed.
Had they changed the leather to black it would have been much better IMHO .

Black interiors with beige seats will look odd! Have you seen the vehicle in person? Are you planning to? Can you please post pics when you do? Also, any changes to the head unit? Toyota has been offering a GPS capable unit in South-East Asia.
