Re: Paintless Dent repair

Basically these guys dont exactly go the actual PDR way. What they do is for very simple dimple type dents. They use that contraption that is sold on TV and see ads in the paper. It is basically, the stick glue to the center of the dent, then apply the tripod kind of device and pull out the dent. Hence, this only works on dents that do not have creases.

But looking at your dent, it is actually a very simple one and can be removed and a bit of working is required on the minor crease below. But trust me, patience is needed and you will get someone to remove this. It is very easy a dent to remove

Re: Paintless Dent repair

Hi Guys,

I have a dent on my car (left corner), there is a bit of paint gone off as well. (will post pics tomorrow). Happened when reversing, did not see a small outgrowth in the wall and ended up damaging the car.

A denting painting shop quoted 2K for repairing it. What say?

Libranof1987 - if the dent is still there, you can tap on the marked areas with your hand and the dent will POP out

^^ Tried it, doesn't work.

Might I add, it's Corsa so has a much thicker metal sheet.

Well, I was side-punching it decently hard.

Thing is - there is crease just at the place where the metal has gone in; so I feel the metal would not easily come off to its original shape.

Re: Paintless Dent repair

Bought pop a dent through eBay (for 600 INR) and used in my dad's Santro. it had a major dent in the front fender due to a fallen coconut leaf brushing its fender.

The dent was nasty and 3 dent pulling using the tool brought it down to a pretty small (Actually 2 since the place I kept the bridge developed a small indendation) one. Will work on it today evening.

The first attempt was in an Indica dent and that didnt work out well (first attempt and used very less glue)

Overall happy with the performance although its not as smooth as the other areas, its not hardly noticable. Unfortunately dont have any photos. I think its a nice investment and for 600 bucks got something to play with

Since I wanted to suprise dad, had to work on the car at 4:00 AM - 4:30 AM in street light (didnt want to put in the garage light to not wake him up). Even in that lighting, it was pretty easy and straight forward.

Re: Paintless Dent repair

Bought pop-a-dent and fixitpro.

Both doesnt work. Even the glue gun which comes along doesnt work.

Even one of the thing which sticks to the car and takes the dent out also got broken in removing a single small dent.

It was a waste of money! :(

Going to the dent/paint shop tomorrow!

Thanks..!

Re: Paintless Dent repair

Contacted the guy, @Comfortablynumb has mentioned in his post above.

My car had been rear ended yesterday, and this guy promptly came to the rescue. Half an hour of his magic with the car, and its almost back to its original glory. A few spots need a touch up, but all in all a great work done by Mr. Gaikwad.
Charged a mere Rs 900 for the work! Saved on my insurance claim too!
I highly recommend this guy for this kinda work.

Here's a pic of the Before and After condtion of my car.

Relief!! -isn't it??
Good to see the post pics and you car back to original.
You said "almost", but its not even apparent in the post pic other than the reflector damage (and 2 dots) so it really must have been a good job

Swanand, did you have to take the car to Bibwewadi or is this done at your place? I will be calling him shortly too. You should have asked for advance bulk discount!

Edit: just re read the ad; it mentions 'work done at your place/ convenience'. I assume you chose that option.

How did he remove the scratches?

Re: Paintless Dent repair

@Remi: The job he carried out was pretty professional. I said almost, as the spots need to be touched upon by me. This guy did all he could, which in itself was great.

@Bala: He came over to my house. If you want to get the same done, call him tomorrow. @Amitwlele has called him for an appointment tomorrow.

The process is like this (in laymans terms). I am no expert in that.

First, he cleans the spot with some kind of cleaner- to remove dust, residue etc. Then he applies some kind of paste for paint protection, and then he has this big lamp (like those spot lights) that he keeps on moving over that dented spot. With a iron rod, he keeps on nudging that dent lightly (from inside the bumper), till its back to its old glory. Then a light rub again and there, Voila!

Hope I havent confused you. This is what I understood from the process. This is the process for bumper dents. For metal dents, the process is different.

Looks super! I really feel bad about dents on cars that are otherwise really well maintained! So, seeing your car back to its pristine condition has made me happy too!

Cheers,
Vikram
