Special Number plate thanks to jkdas – We love it JK!! Zillion thanks. Upgrades planed (on my return to India that is)
1) TATA VX Alloys x5 – I like them.
2) 3M 100% transparent Sun film (sides and windshield) – need to work on the cost part and can someone tell if this is possible in Trivandrum/Cochin?
3) Seat cover to better fit the seats. Like the fit in VX. – Need to decide on color – any suggestions?
4) OSRam Silverstar 50% H4 and H3s for fogs – might pick up from Canada or India depending on the price.
5) Handle on the inside of all 4 doors –same as that’s at the rear- Is this doable? Anyone done this? Cost and where?
6) Upgrade to BOSCH wipers.
7) Sunroof (electrical) – is this advisable? Has anyone experimented? How much this would this cost me? Would this affect warranty?
8) Speakers, amp etc (need to decide on brand, rating etc) – not that much of a music listener while driving.
9) Feeds on Normal Diesel Fills up full tank when it hits ½ tank. (I guess this is recommended- read somewhere) Apart from the comfortable drive my Likes are
1) My dream vehicle since I first saw it about 10 yrs ago.
2) An affordable SUV, one that has killer looks and great on road presence.
3) Makes you feel rich and spoilt. *grin*
4) The movement to the LHS of the road by an auto / biker when they see the Safari loom over their RVMs on road.
5) The respect you get at intersections.
6) Ton Kannakinnu Space (“Tons of Space” in our Regional Language).
7) Very easy to drive around. No problem upgrading from the Zen we own even though there is massive difference in size.
8) Less hit on my weekly spending budget for fuel – thanks to the new 2.2 VTT Engine (Zen was really expensive to drive every day to work. So I went and bought Pulsar 150 for better FE. After the Truck came home, the Pulsar is with one of my friends to get some running on it. Feel sad now that my truck is doing may be 10km a week *sob**sob*)
9) Dual AC- very handy when you need quick cooling.
10) Rear facing floor AC unit great to maintain temp in the middle row.
11) Neat Little Cup holders provided at both front and middle row
12) Door open warning lamps on the doors.
13) Neat little Analog clock.
14) Pneumatic assist for both hood and rear door. My "Can live with it " Dislikes
1) Glove box could have been bigger.
2) Audio HU little to no use when on 1st 3rd or 5th gear.
3) Steering (rubber I suppose) material quality poor. It started flaking off even before I hit 2k on the odo.
4) The rubber that covers either sides of the Hand break. Looks plain gross.
5) Stock lights under powered for the Truck.
6) Stock Wiper blades very poor.
7) Loud thud sound during lock/unlock. My wish list for the next gen Safari
Apart from TML fixing all the points mentioned in the “Dislike” section need to have :
1) Push Button start (if we can have these on Buses why not on Safari!!!Redesigned button ofcourse)
2) Fuel lid open warning – I don’t think this is currently available. Could be wrong as I’ve not tested this. Correct me please.
3) Projector head lamp units like the ones on Skoda and the new CRV.
4) Audio HU should be mounted well clear of the gear leave.
5) Electric Sunroof, ABS and EBD for EX variant and onwards.
6) Redesigned Instrument panel and center console.
7) ORVMs to have Turn indicators facing oncoming traffic.
8) LED indicators on the ORVM facing the driver (looks neat and also lets driver know that the indicator has not been switched off as the indication in the instrument panel might go unnoticed and the blink sound is too feeble).
9) Handles on the inside to assist driver / passengers to hop in and out comfortably.
10) Re designed middle row over head air blower. To be more appealing to look at.
11) LED Tail Lamps.
12) Split rear (boot) door, lower half doubles as a step (will need to find place for the spare wheel though).
Yes most of these add-ons/ suggestions, I’ve observed on various SUVs running here like the Fords, GMCs, Chevys etc. A little inspiration and adoption could make our best Safari better.
And here goes few pics. cheers: |
