Mercedes W126 (1983 280s LHD)

i found this 1983 280s lhd, by chance. it was imported in the 90s and was left standing for a few years. found it in immaculate body and interior condition. mechanically, it was a challenge to get all the effects of time, out. but eventually turned out to be a most enjoyable car. has less than 90000 km and is automatic. the alternator is the only thing that probably needs replaced. its a 70 amp. bosch. wonder if i can locate one, locally. any advice in this regard is appreciated.

A very well maintained 126, I must say. We deserve more pics and a long term ownership review from you (in a separate thread).

This my my 2nd favourite S Class, the first being the tank - the W140!

There are only a few of these cars in Kerala. I came across one near Trichur but was sold and is now in Alleppey with a collector. Not perfect. I heard Delhi has a lot of these cars and Mumbai seems to be the cheapest. If you are particular about the quality, I would definitely recommend buying it from the original importer. Not an easy task, though. Some time ago, there was a beautiful one-owner, low miles w140 in Trivandrum but by the time I got to tracing the owner, believe it or not, it had been exported back to the US.
