Well, the idea is to tell the person that other people (not guilty of the parking) may end up getting hurt is the toothpaste smears itself across the windshield and causes an accident. I dont think any bhpian would want to willingly initiate an accident.

If the aim is to teach a lesson, it should impact only the perpetrator and not others. Anyway, this is subjective and only my opinion. regardless of the probability or hyperbole in your words, which according to me is also subjective.

It is probably the difference between deflating a tyre and tinkering with the brakes to give an example. I think applying toothpaste falls somewhere in between. The subjective opinion comes in where I think it could cause more danger than what you think it could.

I would not do it, probably some others will. I cannot change that, but I can tell people of the probability (however low it may be)

I'm the latest victim of vandalism.
Woke up today to find my car's bonnet completely spoilt by all sorts of drawings and characters.
Looks terrible on a black car. Will try rubbing compound tomorrow

Can you please post a pic of the damage? Any idea who did it? Young artists from the building, whose parents do not let them colour the walls at home at times usually end up this way!

re: Car Vandalism!

I am too a victim of this vandalism from one of the jealous employee in my own company. I received long, deep & multiple scratched made on My Safari exactly 7th day of its purchase. The MODERN ART spans across both left doors.
I know who did it, but lucky for him, I never saw him in office again. It was his last day in organization. He was two levels higher than me. Got to know this from CCTV in the campus. I had made the life of my admin a living hell that day. He had to show me those footages. ASked them for a copy to log a police complaint, but was refused.
The only mistake (I guess) i did that day was I was behind him all the way to office & unfortunately parked exactly next to him. That might have hurt his full of crap ego. That idiot used to drive a CIVIC with F1 Style gear shift..(should have been almost double the price of a SAFARI-EX). Would have loved to paste the number of his car here, but that too was new & did not carried a number plate.

I am unable to track him till date, but trust me if we ever cross again he will regret doing what he did to my BLACK BEAUTY.

Thankfully for me I went to an offroading event from TATA MOtors & had to get some massive stickers pasted on my BLACK BEAUTY. I requested them to paste it in such a manner that most of the scratches are now hidden. But for how long, not sure.

When I do take my family there by car, I always go a bit out of the way and park in one of the quieter streets and by lanes, and we take an auto for ~ Rs 40.00 from there. Return trip to the car costs the same, but if there was a paid parking lot, we will pay Rs 100.00 any way so it does not matter.

I always park it as unobtrusively as possible, and leave a sheet of paper with my mobile number under the wiper blade, just in case.
Since the paper sometimes flies off, I have taken to leaving the paper on the dash, clearly visible through the windshield.

re: Car Vandalism!

Today morning I was travelling by bus to office and at a signal there was an maroon i20 parked next to the bus.

I could see a SINGAM engraving (by key / stones) on the C pillar, designs on the side doors and bonnet too!

Though the car / owner was no where related to me, I had such a bad mood when I saw the car. Why on earth would someone do this!! Morons!

re: Car Vandalism!

I fell to such vandalism on my less than a year old car. I managed to run it in Bangalore traffic without any scratch and bumps but ended up having this thrice in my apartment basement parking. Tried following it up with security last time but obviously could not get anything out of it since security is on rounds and had not seen anything. We do not have security cameras in basement.

This time a long scratch running from rear left door to tail light and extending until rear hatch door. I feel so mad and frustrated at the same time.

Can relate to your plight. EVERY scratch/ding on my car has been inflicted when parked, never in traffic. Sucks to drive your car carefully, only to have it vandalized in parking lots. The left rear door on my car is full of small coin-sized pointed dents because the guy who parks next to me is careless while opening his doors. I even argued once, then just let it be and stopped getting it repaired

re: Car Vandalism!

Lost both my front tyres to sidewall punctures when parked at HSR layout's BDA last Sunday between 12 noon and 11pm. Looks like it was deliberately done. Disappointed and blaming my bad luck.

re: Car Vandalism!

Did you park inside BDA complex? And had you paid the parking fee?
I wonder if the guys who dish out parking tickets did this?

re: Car Vandalism!

Got lucky with my Punto's rear wiper, was at a function in Kerala for just an hour(drove down from BLR in the morning and was back home by night) and some clown tried to break off the wiper by pushing it 90 degrees. I noticed the damage a little later, luckily the spring had bent and the damage wasn't permanent. Kerala being socialism central, I wasn't one bit surprised, seen too many cars vandalised because most of these low lives are encouraged by their parents to attack their oppressors(or some such rubbish), mostly you find parents encouraging their kids to damage a car with a compass.

Re: Accidents in India - PICS

Hi all, This is what someone has done to my Honda City. Both right side doors scratched. My driver says that it has been done through a brick so does it look like done from a brick? I am so annoyed today that I cant tell and again I will have to pay almost INR 5000 for both doors. I have a slight thought in the back of my mind that yesterday evening it was raining in Noida and I went to the near by market and at a signal my driver stopped the car close to a divider; and in between the gap of my car and the divider 2 cyclists came and since it was raining so windows were closed and they would have done this. Since the car was driven by my driver so out fear he is making up the brick story. Please give your opinions after seeing the pics.

Now comes the turn of my Maruti Esteem; Today morning my other driver came and informed after about 10mins that even Esteem has been scratched in the same pattern and on both right side doors. Since I woke up late so could not see the Esteem's damage as Paa had left for office. In the evening today I will see it.

What a fate; I keep my cars in best of shape but now both have been sratched. It is an unplanned expense and a pain for me to see my cars in this condition. I guess both my drivers are the culprit and trying to save each-other.

"Idioticity Inspired Intentionally Inflicted Injuries" to the car "I5" as i often call them for such vandalism

Brick? Maybe its smaller sibling, a sharp stone or a screw driver or even an old keychain.

If the scratch is not very deep a rubbing compound should help you fix this else you will have to take to a body shop nearby. But 5K for both doors is very high IMO. Are you getting this done at a Honda Service center?

Hi mate, The scratch is deep and I agree its done with a sharp object so it wont go with simple rubbing. INR 5000 is the price quoted by a good F.N.G here in Noida for both doors and if I approach Honda ASC then cost will be much higher say about 8-10K and there is no point to take a insurance claim in this case.

Not just this, the same garage has given me an estimate of INR 4000 for both doors of my Esteem since its a Silky Silver color.

So total of both cars 5K+4K=9K going down the drain.

Pheonix you had seen the pics of my car and you can understand how much effort went in it. Keeping the car in best shape needs alot of effort.

Thanks
