Re: What ICE & @ What Price

1. Car

Alto Lxi

2. what is your existing setup (HEADUNITS, SPEAKERS, AMPS, DSP,SW etc.)

Head unit : Pioneer FH- P6050UB
Front Coax : 4.5' JBL GT5-S204
Rear Coax: 6'x9' Sony Xplod XS-GTF69372
Damping : PU foam sheets, cotton waste and yoga mats

HU was bought second hand from a fellow BHPian;
Front Coax from some random car accessories shop on Vikas Marg, New Delhi;
Rear Coax from Car Raunaq in Noida Sector 16 with bill and warranty.
Damping : PU foam sheets from the local mattress shop; cotton waste from a disused electric guitar speaker; yoga mats from Big Bazaar

3. How much did it cost ?

Head Unit : 5000
Front Coax : 1600 (approx)
Rear Coax : 2500 (approx)
Damping
: PU foam sheets : 40
: cotton waste : free
: yoga mat : 199

Damping setup : Boot and tailgate has been lined with PU foam sheets and cotton waste. Yoga mat (cut into suitable sizes) on the floor under the foot mats. Entire damping done as a 2 stage DIY project.

Note: I had also bought a JVC entry level HU and Sony Xplod front coaxes but have replaced them since. Dont remember how much I paid for those.

4.How serious were your about your system?

Pretty serious, followed the ICE thread for about a few months but followed the sound quality, personal preferences (and the limited budget) when push came to shove.

5. which kind of music do you listen to ??

Mostly soft rock, folk and country. Some fusion music as well.

6. would you recommend it to others???

Definitely recommend the JBL rear coaxs and the HU. Would also recommend yoga mats as an effective damping material

7. Place where the setup was done

Various places all over Delhi

How big a hole did your ICE burn in your pockets

I have been strolling through the posts of the ICE setup of different members and there are quite a few mind-boggling ones here.
I have to add that each time I see one of these I want to spend my hard earned rupias on it but I am still to take the plunge for various reasons, the main one being the availability of the above mentioned rupias (what with the inflation and all that)

So I thought I should take a poll and find out how much my friends here have spent on their respective ICE so we could have statistics regarding it. I hope everyone will be enthusiastic about it. I have added ranges, you can always mention your amount in a post.

Additionally, please feel free to put a break-up of the cost so this thread can be a one-stop search for prices of the different components of the ICE.

Mods: I did search and didn't find any threads. Kindly don't ban me if I break any rules, it's just ignorance.

Re: How big a hole did your ICE burn in your pockets

Mine costed about 37k.
Morel Maximo components and coax, MTX ReQ 5, Rockford Fosgate Prime 5 channel amp and RF 10' Prime sub-woofer with Scosche cables and installation. Also included is dampening of the front doors with Dynamat Extreme.

While it did burn a hole, the pleasure more than doused the fire.

Re: How big a hole did your ICE burn in your pockets

When i bought my first own funded car (Indica Lxi Petrol) i spent about 27K on Audio system. At that time (way back in 2001) i had put 8CD changer, Pioneer HU and Large Oval speakers at the rear (On a wooden parcel tray) and small speakers up front.

Six months back when i changed to a Sony with JBL Speakers it costed me close to 10K only (Lesser than that).

Re: What ICE & @ What Price

Innova 2009

* HU: Pioneer AVH-P2300DVD Double DIN ($210, amazon)
* Kenwood: 8405 4ch amp ($135, amazon)
* Scoshe wires (2.4K)
* Speakers: Hertz DSK 165 Components front and back
* Damping

All of this was done by Toqueer at Car Fancy / Auto Fusion.

The speakers were installed last year with the damping. That cost me around 11K

The amp and new head-unit were installed yesterday. Very happy with them, but now thinking about a subwoofer :-)

Re: What ICE & @ What Price

In my Getz.

This was all installed in November 2009, but posting it here now.

- Pioneer 4190 HU - 8.5K
- Focal Solid4 amplifier - 16K
- Morel Tempo6 front components - 9K
- Kicker 8" sub - 3.5K
- Scosch wires

The total came to about 40K.

Very happy with the sound, clear and warm. The subwoofer is a little diffused, but given that i picked up the cheapest one available back then, i can't complain.

Here is the original post for that http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/ask-gu...-speakers.html

Re: What ICE & @ What Price

Hello senior audiophiles !! The family finally booked a Wagon-R duo in chennai. The guys at the dealership were giving an offer to fit an ICE worth 10K for free. They were offering kenwood, jvc and sony. The type of music we listen to varies from classical indian n english, classic rock, hip-hop, jazz and instrumental.

Is it possible to get a good ICE in the price they promise ? I would prefer setting up an ICE from the outside market. SO with a budget of 15-17K can you advise me on a decent setup with 4 speakers, a sub and an amp if needed ?

Thanks in advance.
