I don't have individual breakup; service cost was something close to 2K because of unwanted changes on the body parts; for instance, I changed a right fairing panel because it had paint chipped off, changed side stand as I bent it in the process of lubing for over several months now, changed a rubber on footrest as it had a cut mark etc. I'm sure the cost would've been 25-30% lower if I'd not done such preventive measures on body parts. Except engine oil & filter nothing else was worked on the engine. BTW, I changed airfilter too; per HMSI it only needs to be changed every 12K Km...but considering the "INDIAN" weather condition (esp Chennai), I change it every 6K km.

A bhpian who lives in my neighborhood, moving to the US, wants to sell his one year old, 8.5k KM done, red ABS CBR 250R. He expects ~ Rs 150K for it. What will be a right price for it?

Nice pricing, hopefully the bike is serviced periodically per HMSI, the engine hasn't been touched (like shim change etc) & no visible scratches or paint chips; What's the IDV value quoted on insurance?

Atrocious pricing. I know that the prices down south are on the higher side, due to higher purchase cost and general non business like mentality. However, this one is a shocker. In Delhi such a sample will retail for around 110K, even though the initial quote may be high.

Give it a skip. And get yourself a new one, will ya! Your Splendour needs a break now

Edit: Ok, I missed the ABS part. You can increase it by 10k then. Items like ABS, although essential, don't get their due in the user car/bike market. Most people treat them like a 'nice to have' item.

That's why I asked what's the IDV? Your asking 120K from 190K is like asking for nearly 37% depreciation on a new vehicle. In our case, we cannot compare Delhi with Chennai; even going by your statement, if the prices are more in South, so will be the resale value because one of the deciding factor being is purchase price regardless of how low the model is sold in the country.

Agreed that the prices must be high in South due to higher acquisition cost. Also, up north, many people have this 'use and let go' mentality; especially businessmen. Thus, the haggling over residual cost isn't as vigorous.

Anyway, the point I was making is that its ridiculously priced by ALL standards. And...how's your bike doing?

Sarr he scared me bigtime! Probably cuz I mailed HMSI against them sometime back.

On an unrelated note, since I was hospitalized, I used my bike after about 35 odd days and it started without any tantrum, against my apprehensions. However, the front and rear tyre pressures were 15 & 17 psi respectively. Should I look for a puncture or is this kind of a pressure loss normal for the given period?

I think so; I once didn't take out the bike for 30 days & there were no loss of air pressure in the tires.
