Ok, heres a vid of a BMW doing the 1/4 mile in 8.8secs@253kmph. So whatever the guy told you about doing 330kmph at the 1/4 mile in 8.7secs is crap.

YouTube - bmw drag race

Shan2nu
i just confirmed that the time on the last run was 9.2
will ask that guy as to why he said 8.7

and again as mentioned in my previous post... 330kmph was just an estimation based on their practice runs at the same track few days before

and the R1 and the Valkyrie belong to my friends who had come with me.

And heavy_foot, u said that u were in B'lore. We could have met up.
I too was in the VIP stand but with another group and hence could not be with the T-bhp guys, although I did meet Dippy and Sam.

I hope it is better managed next time.
They can have many more covered stands and charge upto 200 for the tickets which most enthusiasts will gladly shell out.

Hey Abhinav..i was in Bangalore when i posted that..reached Bombay on friday. I had to do some jhol to get into the VIP area..did not have any passes though. Hope they do some arrangement next time so that the people who are willing to pay more can atleast buy a more expensive pass and get a clean view of the action. The 50rs stand was in a smaller area because the land was dug up just next to the stand due to some construstion going on.

Pathetic.Who called this "SpeedRun"?.

PATHETIC. Is the one word i can use to describe this event. And, i flew in from Chennai for this!. Saturday was really bad. None of the cars were appealing and crowd management was equally disturbing. Sunday was slightly better 'cause they had a few used import cars standing around (better than the local cars) and most of the time one or two really obnoxious loud mouthed organizers spent most of the time bullying people over the megaphone , rather than ensuring smooth conduct of events. Frankly, i had more fun outside, at the "street" Speedrun where "real" people had gathered and had more fun. SHAME on AUTOCAR(INDIA) for conducting a most shabby spectacle and allowing elitist bums to organize this event. OCH!. My head is still hurting from this weekend. I'm trying to say something positive, and the best i can come up with is "Amateurish".

Looks more like guess work than estimation coz whatever they used to estimate it, overshot the result by 80kmph.

Autocar was the main sponsor alongside BP. The event was organised and managed by Hungama Events. They are the ones to be blamed for the disaster.

There's an opportunity to let Autocar India know how you feel ...

Agree with the observations made regarding arrangements (or rather the lack thereof) for the Speed Run.

You could post feedback at :
Autocar India Forums: SpeedRun - Your Suggestions ... Topic: SpeedRun - Your Suggestions

Otherwise you could email ishwar@haymarketsac.com or burzeen@haymarketsac.com

Cheers,

I am totally dissapointed with the reality which was going on there. It should have been done better.Anyways with the few pictures i could guess the excitement levels of our guys-too low.
Lets hope the next one is better than this time -as usual.

The wheels that made my day were the couple of Land Rovers straight out of the Sahara.......Simply Awesome.

Loads of suggestions that I can think of, but one of the most important
Trash Cans, Please...........
There were plastic bottles everywhere.
