I am a die hard Ferrari Fan, but even then I got to admit, what Mclaren did with the engine on the P1 is truly spectacular. But then the car is more than the engine, its about the complete package.

I used to always think that most of the Journalist was over-exaggerating when they talk about the MP4-12C's ride comfort, and recently I was driven around in one (bay area, US) and I can vouch for the fact that the ride was superior than almost all the cars I have been in, including the famed Rolls-Royce. Obviously the Rolls Royce was more comfortable overall, but the 12C was stunning. It is truly three different cars into one package.

Much against popular belief, most of these owners will not drag race with the cars (although I admit they will try), but I can assure you that it is unbelievably hard to match the acceleration times that manufacturers claim - The test drivers should be able to do that in controlled environment, but it is very difficult for a normal driver on normal roads.

So for me, the P1 and the LaFerrari comes down to choice / preference. Mclaren will be the most sensible and Ferrari would be the most appealing, attractive and MAD!

If I had the money would pick the LaFerrari anyday, but thats because I like madness not because Mclaren was inferior. If I had all the money in the world I would pick up both. Mclaren for the sensible weekdays, LaFerrari for the maddening Weekends.

All the views represented above are personal, for mere statistics McLaren seems inferior; but cars in this genre is not about statistics - Its about how the emotion, the feel, the appeal.

Best,

Azeem

Offtopic!

Just read in FerrariChat that an F50(black) is headed to India from the US.This was posted by someone who respected figure when it comes to Ferrari Limited edition Supercars and helps in selling them around the world. He has posted the VIN and the present pics of the car too.

Lets see how much of this is true! I dont understand how is someone going to import an F50 other than showing Transfer of Residence.I have my doubts, but if yes this should be the first of hyper-Ferrari's here.

Interesting topic. Now if you analyse Avishar's statement, all he is pointing at is that a car that is fast on paper, or even in real world, in terms of top speed, may not be crossing the finishing line first when raced against a similar but a tad slower car. It depends on a lot of factors, including the orientation of the track, the length of the long straights etc. In most cases on a controlled track top speed alone doesn't do it. Drag maybe, but these cars are not meant for that. As far as I have heard, about how the brands stack up, McLaren turns out to be a connoisuers choice, also explains its ride setup.

re: Ferrari F150 "LaFerrari" - The Enzo Successor!

I absolutely love the LaFerrari but I do believe it is an absolutely stupid name.

The McLaren P1 will be good competition for this car but the P1 loses out in the engine department in my mind because of the same 3.8L V8 turbo configuration seen on the MP4-12C.

That fact makes it feel a little bit idiotic whereas this LaFerrari will share it's V12 with nothing else making it hyper-exclusive.

My favorite features in this car are the carbon-moulded seats that mean the steering wheel and pedals must move and the driver stays in a fixed spot in regards to the windscreen at all times.

This car, along with the P1, Huayra and the 918 Spyder is the new range of hyper-cars that have taken this world by storm.

I remember a magazine (OverDrive I think it was) doing a triple comparo between the Carrera GT, SLR McLaren and the Enzo around ten years back in Italy and I'm hoping they do one more with these three when they finally become available to public.

Till then, we may all drool at these beauties!!

To own a LaFerrari, I rephrase, to be eligible to own one, you must have owned 6 Ferraris previously including atleast 2 in the past 2 years.

As exclusive as it gets. Wow. It is TheFerrari

This may not come as a surprise for a few Bhpians, but I heard an Indian is getting one.

Yet to know if it goes to his Indian or UK garage.

Apparently it is delayed to Q1 2014 as Ferrari is working on achieving the weight targets that it had proclaimed during the unveil.

It would have been better for everyone if they had done some extensive testing before announcing the numbers instead of trying to outdo the competition.

Not even a little surprised by this.

It's an established fact that Ferrari dishes out bloated and exaggerated numbers / figures. I mean, they make such brilliant and desirable cars! Do they really need to state figures that are evidently inaccurate in the real world? Do they really need to prove anything to anyone?
