Maruti Suzuki Ritz facelift launched, also introducing ZDi variant

Today Maruti Suzuki has launched the much anticipated facelifted version of its Big Tall-boy car i.e Ritz.

Check it out at the link: http://www.autocarindia.com/News/314...-launched.aspx

Prices of the new variants are also raised by ~20k, varying as per different variants.
Front & rear bumper are changed & are all new like facelifted Splash in Europe.
Dash board & Music system is also improved & it also gets the new Upholstery of Black-Red combo for its VDi/VXi & ZDi/ZXi variants.

Good news is that VDi ABS variant is retained unlike New Swift.
Another one is the introduction of its ZDi variant this time, priced at Rs.6.23 lacs only which is ~40k less than New Swift ZDi, but its a bit high considering its other rivals are priced, like Beat Diesel, Figo D & Etios Liva.

30K costlier than Figo Titanium. IMHO, Figo is any day a better buy. Maruti, i don't get your logic for in creasing prices for Ritz, which at best is doing "just about OK".

Re: Maruti Suzuki Ritz facelift launched, also introducing ZDi variant

It would be very interesting to see how the market responds to this new act of blasphemy by MSIL. I have always felt that the only thing in favour of Ritz was its price. In almost all other parameters the Figo feels better. Now with this price hike for practically the same old car ( maruti facelifts are more like "spot the differences" competition), it would be tough for them to convince the customer to opt for the Ritz.
Even the Toyota Liva looks rather attractively priced now. And just today I saw an advertisement that LIva comes with new beige interiors now. From the pics it looked a lot better than the old interior shade. The car might start appealing to a lot more people now.

At ~50K less than Swift ZDI you also lose on ACC. Effective price difference ~30-40K purely from equipment level. Too ambitious pricing. Wonder, if the plan of Maruti is to wean customers away from Swift Z, how successful it will be! The only variant I think will do well will be VDI ABS.

Where are the all round exterior pics? Come on folks at Maruti tell us that you have made some changes to its behind if not don't even talk about others nips and tucks. Haven't they been hearing anything what customers say?

Afterall Ritzy is a nice and practical car with a huge rear turnoff. If not done then they just lost a great chance to make it a huge success and have to settle for avg sales in the future as well.

I don't know why.. but I find many people comfortable with Maruti products, when compared with any other. From what I gather, its like a feel good factor + trust that "Maruti will not rob people, while any other will rob(LIKE, Maruti is running the whole show for charity)" + low A.S.S cost.

I always have this feeling, You can never get logic of Maruti pricing or comfort or handling or anything, they some how end-up showing on top of the chart.

Re: Maruti Suzuki Ritz facelift launched, also introducing ZDi variant

The introduction of the ZDi variant would add a little bit to the sales numbers for sure. Many buyers were going away from Ritz because of lack of Airbags. Even though its priced a bit high when compared to its competitors whose who would like to stick with maruti badge and want a Ritz diesel with all safety features , they would be happy with the introduction of ZDi into the line-up.

Why would you say that? My friend was considering a new diesel hatch. I may save him from buying a Ritz if yo help me convincing him. I test drove Both but could not find much to decide.

Looks like the changes are for Ritz DIESEL alone!! Another one from Maruti!! So they are going to have 2 different Ritz's, one petrol & another diesel? What are they trying to achieve? The Ritz petrol owners don't like new features?

The face looked just fine, it was the rear that truly needed some lift in this car.

I somehow like the front of the existing Ritz better.

Any place we can all the changes? 52 that Maruti claims. Are you sure they aren't mere stickers in diff. colors and designs?

I know the article just talks about the diesel Ritz but I doubt they'd pass on the facelift version only on the diesel variant and not on the petrol as well. Did you read otherwise at any place?

Read the below Maruti press release. Almost every instance of "Ritz" is suffixed by "Diesel". If both the variants were face-lifted, I don't think "Diesel" word would have been added to it. Especially when talking about even cosmetic improvements.
