The coaxials are GT5-402 (4") - Rs.1495/-, 502 (5.25") - Rs.1995/- and 652 (6.5") priced at Rs. 2945/- per pair.

The Ovals were released long back (see earlier in this thread) and the amps are TBA.

While the question of discounts on a brand new product is difficult, make sure you are not overcharged. Especially the guys in the smaller cities and towns. If you have instances of dealers wanting to overcharge you can report them.

Show them that you intend to report the overcharge.

Gt'ed Indica

Hiya Sam,
a friend of mine is waiting to ICE his Indica and am advising him on the same. His budget is 25k max and The System setup is as follows

HU: Pio 4950 3 RCA out.

Fronts : JBL GT5 Compo's either 5" or 6" whichever fits in the overall budget and the owner's comfort.

Rears: JBL GT5 Either Ovals or 6.5" coaxes.

Sub: JBL GT5 12" Sub.

The Amp selection is a major problem. I ideally want him to have a 4 channel amp for the speakers and a mono for the sub.
option 2 is to go in for just a 4 channel for the comps and the sub with the rears running off the HU
And option 3 is to go in for a 5 channel.

My dilemma is that the amps will have to be JBL GT5's and am at present unaware of the lineup, cost and availability.

Awaiting your inputs and your recommendations.

See you around.

Hey sam, you must've listened to both the gt5 and gto components, could you post your opinion on the difference between the two ?

GT5 amplifiers are not yet announced. Availability is TBA. If your friend wants to wait for them, he will probably have to wait for a few more weeks.

To be honest I have not had too much time to do any critical listening between the two. I heard the GT5 components briefly and was impressed by the quality, considering the price.

JBL's home country is USA. The international office is in Europe. The speakers are imported from Europe. From the warehousing in Netherlands, to be precise.
They are designed and engineered in the USA, but yes, they are made in China. In a JBL factory in China.

Today, everything is made in China, lol.
The iPod, the iPhone, in fact all Apple products, all microsoft products, all lenovo products - everything. Only a few specialized limited release products are made in the USA.

Thats what some folks cant comprehend.

A Company owned/run factory will always have a much higher standard on the assembly line as well as the QC.

China's image has further been tarnished off lately because of the agenda and conspiracy by Uncle Sam (not apna Yeti) Lol !

And also the fact that many automobile manufacturers like GM produce and export from China. They are still 'American' cars.

Yes. In fact so many things are made in China that people do not even realise that the W in George W. Bush stands for Wong.

That was senior Bush's W, the current one's W stands for Whack which is slightly more global

Sorry to keep harping on about this, but do we have a timeline now for the GT5 amps? Also since it gives 4 x 60W RMS, does that mean that if I bridge two channels, it would give 120W RMS to the sub (and 60W each to the components)? And is 120W sufficient to get a good (not necessarily loud) sound out of a sub so connected?

Sam bhai,
Are these prices inclusive of taxes? I'm planning for GT5 for both front and rear speakers in my WagonR. Which one do you prefer for the rear (which i plan to put on a box) 5.25" or 6.5"?

Thanks,
Ramki.

@ramki you can contact BlueRaven316 for a quarter glass install for the rear 6x9 speakers. I think that is the best install for a Wagon R.
