I would rather suggest an UMPC. Tons of functions and features for slightly more price.

Its a shocking realisation that I am on the 10th phone in the period 1997 to 2007. Selling the old and buying the new one is always losing money business with any product. From the year 2004 I decided I would not try a new one, but with the newly introduced features and functions there was no choice but to upgrade.

My take based on my own usage and my close friends' experiments:

Nokia N95 is a good phone with camera, business features and entertainment built all in one.

Nokia E62 and E61 are good business phones giving the utmost importance to business/ work related features.

Nokia E90 is the latest addition with all the business features you can imagine of with the entertainment and camera functions put together.

All the above has best web browsing features.

If you want to avoid lot of business features but concentrate fully on entertainment and camera functions, sony ericsson has K750i and later K versions which can serve fully to one's satisfaction.

Apple I-phone is something which I wanted to buy as soon as it becomes available in the international market. I was totally swept away head over heels watching the official lauching of the phone in 2006. The functions, added features, touch screen, size, beauty, you have no words to express what all are not put into this. But it was very sad to know there are lot of functions which will not work in Indian networks. Waiting to hear more about the usability getting ok for India.

I need to find a good handset for my granny. Absolutely basic, no frills, reasonable battery life.

Most important thing - Well illuminated backlit keypad, with LARGE numbering/lettering as her eyesight is weak.

Nokia would be good since its got the easiest interface.

Phone is good, but battery life not so great. 1-1.5 days of use max.

@LBM, devarshi84 -

any idea about how many contacts can P1i hold without losing out on speed ??
This is a major issue for deciding the phone for my cousin as he is havin some 3000 odd contacts needed to be stored. ( yeah it is 3000 ). The contact files in toto major upto 40MB when synchronised with the PC..
???
