In my mod, only the compartment is cut, nothing else. So you either cut it or discard it completely. I have somehow had blokes who wanted to retain the lid-closing functionality, and wanted the car to look stock in front.
B&T, a pic is worth a lot of talk! Please, I wanna see how the lid closes after the install.

Gunbir! Nice and neat install there. Full marks for the clean job.

Here's one more cool thing you can try with the Accord.

B&T!!!! I'm just out of words bro!!!
100 marks or maybe 1000. The Install is really good. Very much stealthily done. Too good to believe. Well done!

What are those audio connectors doing below the HU?
And the level adjusters I assume is for the amps!!??

Those turny things (Gosh I'm talking like Sam now) are remote bass boost knobs. There are two of them because there are two different amps for the subs.

They are on full for artistic purposes only.

The Audio connectors are go to the Aux-in of the Pioneer Head Unit. When I installed this nearly 2 years ago, i-pod adapters were hard to come by. The client also plugs in his laptop over there.

Exactly! I thought of the same. But how important are these bass boost controls in an install? I've seen these messing up a nicely tuned setup more than once.

You mean he connects it and plays songs from the laptop?
Holy!!! Imagine: winamp in the background, nice song playing and you browsing T-BHP and a nice belly dancer shaking her hips to the tunes of winamp!! what else could anybody ask for??

What details do you want?
B&T, can you provide some idea on how to reach the back of the integrated audio system? What are the kind of Inputs and Outputs and how to go forward from there...

Actually, since it;s a new launch, none of the shops I went to were aware of how to access the back of the integrated HU, some of them even came with screw drivers and tried forcing it out , but I got too scared and asked them to lay off...

You're right speedzak. I am not in support of using the bass boost controls on amps unless you're using a really impotent subwoofer, or the enclosure is too small and there's inadequate low bass. They're just equalizers, so the same pros and cons apply for their usage.

I suppose you're talking about the Civic here. I earlier mistakenly said "Alpine head unit in the Civic". That was the new Honda City.

The head unit of the Civic is similar to the kind found in the Accord. No pre-outs, so there's no point reaching behind it, which in itself is a painful procedure. So you will need to get line-out converters, or use an amp with high-level inputs, if that's the upgrade you have in mind.

Pray may I ask why do you need to access the cap? I'd rather have a nice bitwise headphone amp and a pair of Beyer/AKG/Senns etc..
