@addyhemige The V10 is a better bet - although I would suggest you check with panny india if they plan to launch the 2010 neo pdp panels in india anytime soon

@civicsense - full hd is over-rated. I have been watching blurays on my hd ready panny plasma for more than a year now and it far out-classes most full hd LCDs and even LEDs.

Unless you are very close to the TV, less than 2 feet I think, you cannot make out the difference between HD and Full HD.

Terribly confused!
Choices- Panasonic S10 or G10 or Samsung c550 if i go with Full HD.
Samsung b450 or newly launched C450 if i go with HD ready.

Can't decide,help

Atleast i have decided will go with 42 inches only.

Well, Plasma might look better as far as blacks are concerned, but I don't think there is any substitute for no of pixels. Well, it is true that our eyes cannot tell the difference on a 32 inch TV, I am sure, you will notice that on 42. Or, I'd rather say that I could tell the difference when I was comparing them at a shop. 1024, is not even normal HD (should be 1280) and compared to 1920 of full HD is a large difference, but then you should be watching 1080p source material too to notice the difference.

Bought new Sony Bravia KDL40EX400 from singapore for 1200$(38400 INR). Along with this i got a DVD player, Wall mounting kit and HDMI Cable free. I took this to india last week and payed customs duty of 2700 INR.

The rate in india is 60,900 INR in Bangalore.

Savings around 20K....

Difference between Full HD and HDd ready on a 42 inch at viewing distance say 8-10 feet(which is normal viewing distance) is absolutely nothing. But bigger the screen gets more the differences appear.
Also about the burn in thingy for Plasma, I can assure that this is a thing of past. Have played many games and even played continuously upto 9 hours once. No permanent burn at all. Yes, there are temporary burns but that's never an issue as it goes after sometime.

It's just that you get used to whatever you watch for a long time. I've been watching my 21" CRT tv for 7 years now and would have never missed HD Ready or Full HD or whatnot had it not been for these companies creating such a hype around these things. So no wonder you are totally happy with HD Ready. Once you have watched full HD (real 1080p content) for a year or so, you can never go back to anything less.

I also read somewhere that the Panny V10 50 inch plasma is sold at 1.2L. Is this true? If yes, can someone direct me to a place in Bangalore where I can get it at this price?

@Kool_Kid, How much did you pay for your S10? Any reviews?

Thanks
Beware of the extra electricity bill you will end up paying after buying a Plasma.

Plasmas HOG electricity.

Got me thinking. Just wanted to quantify the difference. Have assumed average usage and price of a unit/kwh of power. Note that average usage will vary a lot from person to person and I'm not really sure about the price of an unit.

FHD 42" G10 Plasma - 445w
VIERA TH-P42G10D | G Series | Digital AV | Panasonic India

FHD 42" LZ80 LCD - 184w
VIERA TH-42LZ80 | LZ Series | Digital AV | Panasonic India

Difference - 260w
For avg TV usage of 6 hrs/day. Extra power required = 1560wh. Which is around 1.5 units per day. That's 45 units per month. If unit prices are around Rs. 5, it translates to an extra power bill of Rs. 225 per month.

ps: Not conversant with current prices, but one would normally pay more to buy a 42 FHD LCD than a 42 Plasma. Becomes kind of the diesel/petrol argument. High usage diesel, else petrol
