A very pristine car indeed! Also the ashtray looks curiously like that on the Standard Pennant/Gazels! Arun, do you have a close-up pic. of the front? Those look like Herald parking lights to me! If the originals for this car can be found, I'd love to have those....

This place is at Shapurwadi, near Birla mandir. There also used to be a green and white Herald I saw there a couple of times under repair.

The first car seems to be a 1938-40 Opel Kadett. Did you find this in Salt Lake?

That is not an SS100 but a SS Tourer. Check the front mudguard lines, the radiator cowl and the exposed door hinges among other things.

Also the SS100 had louvres all over the top of the bonnet unlike the SS Tourer which had a plain bonnet.

Another point to distinguish the SSTourer from an SS100 is the number of seats. The 100 is a strict two seater and the Tourer is a four seater and features a rear seat.

Here's an Austin 4-door Tourer I spotted today at a mechanic's. I was told it's a mid 30s model. It appears to be originally from Madras, going by the dealer's
badge still intact, the current AP regn. being an 80s one.
It seems reasonably complete! The tail-lights, I suspect, are add-ons from a Morris Minor.....although not too sure.
Does it say "King of the road" on the Lucas headlamp bowls? So now we'd know where our truck drivers got their self-proclaimed title from!
