Woww Bunny we can see the effects of "great indian road trip". You made it sound so simple.

And ReNaGade as a fellow BHPian said please cover most during daylight and stop after dusk. There's no point taking a risk on "indian" roads.

I agree with you on this Goandude, after the right turn the road runs through country side and farmland makes a great drive. Also the road quality is nice. I enjoyed the drive in that sector Aajra to Panaji. On the way back took the same route from Panaji to Pune. Started from Panaji at 8am sharp and reached Pune at 4:30pm with 1 hour stop at Kolhapur [Lunch at the restaurant OPAL known for good non-veg very you get Maharasthrian to chinese]

Im pasting a picture from that road.

Telari ghat is bad, it's basically built for the construction porject and was never intended for public use. so the road is badly [not ] maintained. and the ghat itself is dangerous [too steep]. do not think of driving down to goa from there.[I use to travell a lot when in collage on my bike]
It is basically on the way to amboli from belgaum, you need to take a rigth at a junction. do not rmember the name now but it's big you'll understand when you reach there. Lot of people on that junction.

Well, Here are some snaps of Tilari ghat which were taken in 2nd. week of may 09.
As I take it, Roads are roads good or bad I love them.
Many people from Belgaum & Goa do not know this road & many prefer not to use it. However this route is my favourite as it is the shortest from Belgaum to Panji. around 110 kms max.
Please note. I do not recomend anyone to take this route.

SAHIR. Does this route pass through Assanora and Thivm on to mapusa and then Panjim? How long is the Ghat section, I've heard it's 8 km. What are the towns that you pass by on this route?

Its Belgaum - Phatne Phata ( take left from here. its on the belgaum sawantwadi rd ) - Tilarinagar - Dodamarg - Assanora - Mapusa - Panjim. Yes the Ghat is just 8 to 9 kms.
